In today’s climate, forward-thinking businesses are looking more closely than ever at their environmental credentials and how they can do their bit to limit their impact on the world around them.
In the demolition industry – which may not have previously been synonymous with sustainability – Bradley Group are looking to stand out from the crowd as they pride themselves on incorporating environmentally responsible practices into everything they do.
With this in mind, Bradley Group purchased two JCB 19C-1E electric mini excavators and two 1TE site dumpers for their latest project – carrying out internal demolition and soft strip as part of the £1.3bn transformation programme of Terminal 2 at Manchester airport.
Demolishing the competition
While Bradley Group is committed to reducing fuel consumption, limiting emissions of greenhouse gases and improving energy efficiency, they must still provide effective, safe and reliable demolition and asbestos removal services.
This means that the equipment they use on their projects must be up to date, powerful and economical – as well as clean and energy efficient – to ensure they meet the expectations of both their operators and their valued customers.
That’s where JCB comes in.
The JCB E-TECH range is a new generation of fully electric machines with zero emissions at point of use and no compromise on performance. The new 19C-1E is the first of the electric generation and the industry’s first fully electric mini excavator. It boasts a full day's work on a single charge with low noise levels making it safer for the environment and ideal for working in urban and indoor environments.
Bradley Group’s Director, Andrew Hill said: “JCB is a fantastic worldwide manufacturer at the cutting edge of electric technology. In the process of selecting our equipment provider, we conducted demonstrations of various brands. JCB emerged as the undisputed choice, showcasing the most effective electric machines. We are also pleased with the backup service JCB provides.
“The initial order was for one mini excavator but the second followed soon after as we were so impressed with the performance of our first. We have had some great operator feedback with the electrical machines surpassing expectations. They noted the machines’ even smoother tracking, distinguishing them from their diesel counterparts. They have also highlighted the added convenience of simply plugging in a machine, as opposed to the traditional process of refuelling with diesel, and the ability to carry out a full shift on a single charge.”
