PEDAL POWER SET TO GIVE BOOST TO CHILDREN’S CHARITY APPEAL
Hundreds of cyclists are set to climb into the saddle next month to put some pedal power into JCB’s £2 million NSPCC Appeal.
The cycling event on Sunday, September 17th will cover three picturesque routes of either 50, 70 or 100 kilometres around Staffordshire and Derbyshire. All money raised will go to JCB’s NSPCC Appeal which will fund the charity’s work in Staffordshire.
The initiative is the brainchild of JCB Principal Electrical Engineer Aaron Turner who has founded the JCB Cycling Club and has been cycling for more than a decade. The event - called the JCB Sportive - will start and finish at JCB’s World HQ in Rocester. Last year’s inaugural event attracted 250 riders and raised £10,000 for the NSPCC.
Last year’s event was successful on many fronts: we had a great turn out from cyclists from all over the country and it raised a huge amount of money for the NSPCC. We want to make this year’s JCB Sportive even bigger and better. It will be great fun and there are distances to suit several cycling abilities.

The entry fee is £35 for the 50km route, £40 for 70kms and £45 for 100kms. The event is open to both JCB employees and members of the public.
JCB launched its £2 million NSPCC Appeal – the biggest in its history – in July. The appeal will culminate in 2025 when JCB celebrates its 80th birthday – and 40 years of support for the UK’s leading children’s charity. It was through Carole Bamford that the NSPCC originally became JCB’s nominated charity, with millions of pounds raised over the years.
