YOUNG football players in Uttoxeter have netted a £1,000 donation from JCB to help fund a new kit, trophies and medals.
Uttoxeter Juniors Football Club has spent the money on a full kit, emblazoned with the JCB logo, for the under 11s team. It was also used to buy trophies and medals for the winners of each age group playing in the Uttoxeter Lions & Uttoxeter Juniors five-a-side tournament as well as cups for the champions. In total 53 teams, ranging from the under-sevens to the under-15s, competed in the five-a-side matches.
Andrew Sims, who is the Assistant Manager for the under 11s team, said: “JCB's kind donation has helped to lay strong foundations at a grassroots level. It will not only benefit the local players in Uttoxeter but also those who travel from the surrounding areas to take part in the football matches.
“The teams always put a great deal of effort into training for the tournament so it was a real pleasure to be able to reward their hard work and commitment by presenting them with new trophies and medals.”
