JCB and its employees in Wrexham have raised more than £30,000 to help a children’s charity in Wales. The company, which employs more than 400 people at two factories on the Wrexham Industrial Estate, has donated the money to the NSPCC. A cheque for £32,111 was handed over to Tess O’Callaghan from the charity by JCB Transmissions Director and General Manager Rob Owen and Personal Assistant Fionna Hughes.
Rob Owen said: “It was a tremendous fundraising effort and everyone who contributed deserves praise as every single penny of the money raised will help children right here in Wales.”
A charity dinner and donations from suppliers raised more than half of the total but smaller events, from dress down days, to Easter egg raffles and sponsored half marathons played an important role in reaching the £32,000 target.
NSPCC Fundraising Manager Tess O'Callaghan, said: “This is a very significant donation and we would like to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who supported the appeal on behalf of each and every one of the children the money will help.”
JCB’s support of the NSPCC can be traced back almost 30 years when Lady Bamford, wife of JCB Chairman Lord Bamford, instigated the first fundraising appeal. Since then JCB and its employees have raised millions of pounds for the charity.
